God's Plan of Salvation Someone once asked the apostle Paul this question, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Acts 16.30. This is life’s most important question. The Bible has the answers to this and many other important questions of life. Consider the following five points. I. Why do I need to be saved? Everyone needs to be saved because everyone has sinned. “As it is written: ‘there is none righteous, no, not one;’” Romans 3:10 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 II. Sin separates me from God and has eternal consequences. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 III. Jesus Christ died for my sin. “But God commends his love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 IV. How can I receive God’s gift of eternal life? I must put my faith in Jesus by confessing my sin and asking Jesus to save me. “That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10 “For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’” Romans 10:13 V. How can I be sure that I am saved? I can trust God to do what he promised to do. “For by grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” Ephesians 2:8 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1 Knowing and understanding what you have just read, if you want to become a Christian just pray a simple prayer with all your heart asking Jesus to save you right now. Pray something like this: Jesus, I admit I have sinned and have not put God first in my life. I now repent and turn away from my sin. I believe and accept that God sent you to die on the cross for my sin. I now ask you to forgive me and give me a new life starting right now and prepare for me an eternal home in heaven. I now and forever accept you as my personal Lord and Savior and I promise to follow and obey your commands and to serve you for as long as I live. Thank you for loving me and saving me. Amen. If you prayed that prayer, or something like it, and you meant it, then Jesus has heard you and he has saved you. The Bible tells us we can be secure in our salvation. “Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 “These things I have written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5:13 The next steps in your new life in Jesus Christ is to: 1- Tell another Christian about your decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. 2- Join with a Bible believing Christian church to publicly confess your faith in Jesus through believer’s baptism. 3- Commit to attend church regularly for worship, Bible study, and Christian fellowship.
